We, the kids day at James Madison’s Montpelier

April 5 @ 9:30 am - 4:00 pm

Whether you’re a kid, or kid at heart, visit Montpelier on April 5th for We, The Kids Day! Take advantage of this day during Spring Break and participate in activities specially created for children and families.

Scheduled Activities

Open House – 9:30am – 4pm; A self guided experience through the Madison home allows families to move through the house at their own pace. Strollers, food, and drink are not permitted in the house.

Drop-in Activities

Catalog Artifacts – If you think you have what it takes to be a curatorial mystery solver, you can put your skills to the test! Try your hand at cataloging special artifacts, or play a game of “I-Spy” and see if you can uncover some of the artifacts on display with Montpelier’s Curatorial and Collections staff.
Vote For your Favorite Artifact at our mock voting booth.
Historic Preservation Station – Learn about the tools used to preserve the Montpelier buildings.
Mr. Madison Will be at Home and Receiving Guests – Visitors have an opportunity to engage with James Madison in all his genius and complexity. Mr. Madison will discuss a range of topics, from his life at Montpelier to the writing of the US Constitution and Bill of Rights.
